It has a dark grey cast aluminum body and glass-reinforced nylon frame. Most electrics have limited upper temp ranges, but many owners report Weber’s Q electrics put a pretty good sear on a steak. Weber states their electrics reach 500 degrees, but can get hotter depending on ambient temperature. They attribute this to two interior, aluminum heat retention liners that prevent heat from escaping and promote even temps. Additionally, the conductive properties of coated cast iron grates on all Q models help produce good sear marks. 500 degrees is not what we’d call steak temps, but many owners who switched from a different brand of electric to Weber feel the sizzle is far superior.
